Siksika EMS, is proud to employ four Siksika Nation Members.
– Prior to 1997 Gleichen Blackfoot Ambulance, provided emergency care to Siksika Nation Members.
– On September 1, 1997 Siksika Chief and Council along with Siksika Health Service took over the operations from Gleichen Blackfoot Ambulance. At the time only Basic Life Support (BLS) was provided to the community.
-Iin 1998 Siksika Emergency Medical Services (SEMS), with the hire of its first paramedics, became an Advanced Life Support (ALS) Service.
In each ALS ambulance at least one Paramedic and one EMT provide the highest level of prehospital care offered in the Province of Alberta.
– March 2015 welcomed EMS Chief John Taplin
-Today, Siksika Ambulance employs 8 full time Paramedics, and 8 full time EMTs.
-Siksika EMS, is proud to employ four Siksika Nation Members. Three EMTs, each with over 12 years experience, and one Paramedic beginning in 2011.
– Each ALS ambulance is equipped with Advanced airway interventions, Cardiac therapy, and medications able to provide quality advanced pre-hospital care for patients who are ill and seriously injured.
Siksika EMS is overseen by Medical Director Dr. Keith Spackman.
